Deconbrio is a Coldwave / Industrial-Rock band from Knoxville, TN, headed by frontman Danny Rendo. Rendo – who writes, produces and records his own music – originally started in South Florida before moving to San Francisco and now has a new lineup in Knoxville.
The band’s debut album, Obsessions of a False Idol, was released in 2008 as a free download. It wasn’t long after that they were picked up by Bit Riot Records out of Chicago, IL, and released their EP, The Vanishing, in 2009. Voyeur, Deconbrio’s second full-length album, was released in February 2012 and has received much acclaim, including being included in the best of 2012 by Coma Music Magazine and FiXT. In 2014, they returned to the independent world and released The Art of Violation: Part One, a 5-track, anger-fueled EP.
Wanting to take Deconbrio out of the studio, Rendo put together a live band to help bring the music to the stage. Deconbrio has shared the stage with Motionless in White, Mushroomhead, Combichrist, William Control, SOiL, John 5, Velvet Acid Christ, Davey Suicide, One-Eyed Doll, and many more.
Since the release of The Vanishing, Rendo has lent his remixing skills to a few artists, including Caustic, Celldweller, I Will Never Be The Same and Torrent Vaccine, has recorded a cover of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” for the Coma Music compilation “Tainted Candy: A Tribute to 80’s New Wave”, and has produced a few tracks for South Florida-based hip hop artist MC Gaps.
95.7 The X was more than just Knoxville’s modern rock station. It was home to some amazing people who not only loved rock music, but loved and supported the local scene. I’ll always remember joking around with Oz at the station, seeing him out in the crowd screaming along to all the songs. Yes! He loves the locals, and supports them wholeheartedly.
It’s time for us to pay our respects to a station that gave us the rock! A station that supported the local scene! A station… that was replaced by another country station.
This is your last chance to show your love. HORNS UP, KNOXVILLE! Let’s make this the ultimate party.
Rachel Craig from MetalBlogging did a review of the Motionless in White / Deconbrio / The Creatures in Secret / Illustrious show on April 22nd at The Concourse in Knoxville. Here’s a little excerpt from the review regarding our performance:
Deconbrio surprised me. I had absolutely no idea what to expect when I met them hanging out on the patio during MiW’s soundcheck, but I was extremely happy to see what they brought to the stage. I can also confirm that they’re all really nice and funny (although they probably don’t want to admit it).
The Art of Violation is somewhat of a departure from previous Deconbrio releases. Instead of exploring a wide range of emotions throughout, the album focuses on two extreme ends of the spectrum while exploring the connection between them.
Voyeur is Deconbrio’s second full-length album, following their 2009 EP, The Vanishing. The album sees a growing artist willing to push the boundaries of electronic rock with distorted guitars, swirling synths and a lyrical content that will lead you to the darkest depths of erotic fantasy, all while telling a gripping tale of highly charged obsessions, sultry addiction and the twisted games we unwittingly play.

The Vanishing, Deconbrio’s first release under Bit Riot Records, starts off as a much needed retaliation toward the demons in Danny Rendo’s head. It soon manifests into a story of anger, vengeance and obscure fantasy. Five tracks of industrial rock and electronica; the deluxe edition includes instrumental versions of each song.

The debut album from Industrial Rock act Deconbrio, Obsessions of a False Idol lashes out on the stamp-and-go styles of today’s entertainment industry. The album is portrayed from multiple angles: the entertainment industry (”Let’s feed the world our bullshit and watch our profits soar”), the consumers (”We all react to what they’re bringing back”), and the voice of reason (”Wake up. You have been lied to. This is a masquerade”).
